מתנית' בשטענו חטים והודה לו בשעורים אבל אם טענו שני מינין והודה לו באחד מהן דברי הכל חייב רבי אימי בשם ר' יוחנן לא סוף דבר מתניתא בשטענו חטים והודה לו בשעורים אלא אם טענו שני מינין והודה לו באחד מהן דברי חכמים פטור ולמה תנינן רבן גמליאל מחייב בא להודיעך כח רבן גמליאל עד היכן הוא מחייב ר' אבהו כהדא דר' אימי ר' שמעון בן לקיש אמר מתניתא בשטענו חטים והודה לו בשעורים אבל טענו שני מינין והודה לו באחד מהן דברי הכל חייב רב כר' שמעון בן לקיש חד בר נש אזיל בעי מידון עם חבריה קומי רב שרי מיטען עימיה שערין חטין כוסמין אמר ליה רב כל מה דאת יכיל מגלגלה עלוי גלגל ובסופא הוא מישתבע לך חדא על כולהן אמר ר' אבהו כך משיב ר' שמעון בן לקיש את ר' יוחנן על דעתך דאת אמר טענו שני מינין והודה לו באחד מהן דברי חכמים פטור והא תנינן טענו כלים וקרקעות הודה בכלים וכפר בקרקעות בקרקעות וכפר בכלים אם כלים בכלים הוא פטור כלים בקרקעות לא כל שכן מה עבד לה דו

He pours a second cup, and here the son asks. If he does not have the intelligence to ask, his father teaches him [to ask]: "Why is this night different from all [other] nights? On all [other] nights, we dip [vegetables] once, [but] on this night, we dip [vegetables] twice. On all [other] nights, we eat chamets (leavened grain products) and matsa, [but] on this night, it is all matsa. On all [other] nights, we eat meat roasted, stewed or boiled, [but] on this night, it is all roasted. " And according to the son's understanding, his father instructs him. He begins [instructing him about the Exodus story] with [the account of Israel’s] shame and concludes with [Israel’s] praise (glory); and expounds from “My father was a wandering Aramean” (Deuteronomy 26:5) until he completes the whole passage.
