מודה ר' ליעזר לחכמים שאם היתה נתונה על ארבעה אבנים או שהיתה גבוה מן הארץ פותח טפח שהיא כשירה. תני העושה סוכתו כבית יער הלבנון כשירה. למי נצרכה לר' ליעזר. אבא בר ב"ח בשם ר' יוחנן במחצלות אושא שנו. א"ר ליעזר סתם מחצלות אושא טמאות עד שיעשם אוהלים. סתם מחצלות טיברייא טהורות עד שיעשם לשכיבה. ר' יצחק בר חקולה ר"ש בר' הורין כאילין על פתח החנויות שהן טהורות. הורי ר' אימי ארונה טמאה מהו לסכך בה. מחלוקת ר' ליעזר וחכמים. ר' יצחק ב"ר לעזר הורי מדוחק להתיר ראשי מעדנים ולסכך בהן. תנינן וכן המתיר ראשי מעדנים טהורה ואת אמר הכין:

Said R. Mana: It is not reasonable [to have the ashes removed at midnight for Yom Kippur and at the first watch for the Festivals]. But [on] Yom Kippur fro the first watch and on the Festivals from midnight, so that they shall not come into the hands of thirst. Said R. Yochanan: The removal of the ashes is the beginning of the service of the morrow, and he must sanctify his hands and feet from the laver which was sunk in water.
