א כַּהֲנָא אָמַר כִּתְחִילַּת מַטָּעָתוֹ עוֹשִׂין אוֹתוֹ. בֵּית שַׁמַּי אוֹמְרִים תְּחִילַּת מַטָּעָתוֹ עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבַּע. וְחוּרְבָּנוֹ עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבַּע. אָמַר רִבִּי יוֹחָנָן בֵּית שַׁמַּי מַחְמִרִין בְּחֻרְבָּנוֹ יוֹתֵר מִמַּטָּעָתוֹ. תְּחִילַּת מַטָּעָתוֹ שֵׁש עֶשְׂרֵה וְחוּרְבָּנוֹ עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבַּע. וְכָל הַדְּבָרִים בֵּית שַׁמַּי מוֹסִיפִין שְׁלִישׁ. מָחוֹל הַכֶּרֶם עַל דַּעְתֵּיהּ דְּבֵית שַׁמַּי שְׁמוֹנֶה עֶשְׂרֵה עַל דַּעְתֵּיהּ דְּבֵית הִלֵּל שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה. וְהָתַנִּינָן מָחוֹל הַכֶּרֶם בֵּית שַׁמַּי אוֹמְרִים שֵׁשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה אָמָּה וּבֵית הִלֵּל אוֹמְרִים שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה אַמָּה. אִית דְּבָעֵי מֵימַר צֵא מֵהֶן אַרְבַּע אַמּוֹת לַעֲבוֹדָה נִמְצְאוּ שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה עַל דַּעְתֵּיהּ דְּבֵית שַׁמַּי וּשְׁמֹנֶה עַל דְּבֵית הִלֵּל.
