האוכל אצל חמיו ביהודה שלא בעדים אינו יכול לטעון טענת בתולים מפני שהוא מתייחד עמה אחד אלמנת ישראל ואחד אלמנת כהנים כתובתן מנה בית דין של כהנים היו גובין לבתולה ארבע מאות זוז ולא מיחו בידם חכמים:

In the Babli, 52b, the explanation is ascribed to R. Joḥanan and the recommended amount is 10% of the father’s property.
