The Leyden manuscript and Venice print have חכמים, a conflation of two verses: (Ex. 23:8) “Do not take bribes, for bribes blind the seeing and adulterate just sayings.” (Deut. 16:19) “Do not take bribes, for bribes blind the wise and adulterate just sayings.”
